How to test/demo an SREDKey?

For a USB-KB version (IDSK-XX4XXX): 

You can test the device using Windows Notepad or any text editor. Swipe a card or complete a manual entry. The resulting output will be visible in the text editor


  1. Connect the unit to an available USB port
  2. Launch Notepad or any text editor
  3. Swipe a mag stripe card, you should see data. the reader IS working
  4. Follow the prompts to complete a manual entry, hit enter for each response, when you have responded to all the prompts, the unit will output the results to you text editor.

For USB-HID version (IDSK-XX5XXX):

You will need to install the SREDKey USB Demo app (80137802-006-A SREDKey USB Demo V1.02.6 .zip)

  1. Connect the unit to an available USB port
  2. Launch the SREDKey USB Demo app, 
  3. Swipe a mag stripe card, you should see data. the reader IS working
  4. Follow the prompts to complete a manual entry, hit enter for each response, when you have responded to all the prompts, the unit will output the results to you the demo app.


If you plug in the reader and it displays anything other than "Ready" or  "Swipe Card or Key-in Card Number", Please contact our support team for assistance.
