Updating Device Security Certificates

Overview

The Cert Update Utility updates the expired security certificate and firmware for SREDKey 2 readers.

Before you begin, make sure you have downloaded SREDKEY2_Cert_Update_Utility.zip and extract it to your computer.

Note the following information:

  • Each SREDKey 2 reader requires a separate update due to security certificate information.
  • After the utility installs the security certificates, it scans the Firmware directory and completes the update.

The update process takes 5 to 7 minutes to complete. DO NOT unplug the SREDKey 2 from your computer during the update.

Updating a SREDKey 2 Reader

  1. Open the Cert Update Utility directory.
  2. Plug the target SREDKey 2 reader into the computer's USB port.
  3. Run Cert_Update_Utility.exe.
  4. The utility prints a successful update message when complete.

When the update is complete, unplug the SREDKey 2 unit and, if needed, plug in the next device to update; the utility can update as many devices as needed.
