FAQ - How to configure a barcode scanner to give a time stamp.
I have a barcode scanner (ValueScan II, EconoScan II, etc.). How can I configure it to give the time and date?
Our configurable barcode scanners can be set to append output strings with the sending of function keys. While in a text editor such as Notepad, pressing F5 will give the time and date. To set this to the scanner, configure this as a [pre/post]amble, or a [pre/suf]fix by appending characters 1 and 5 from the ASCII table, as so:
