EMV L3 certification: Which test cases need to be tested, and with what configuration?

Answer:

Typically, when completing an L3 certification, one will need to pass a suite of tests in a BTT (brand test tool) such as the UL Test tool. The acquiring party then provides a project scope, along with test cases, based on your configurations. This will result in your TSE.

Typically, this is how the procedure works:

  • We do the EMV L1/L2 certifications to properly certify the hardware and EMV kernel on the product.

  • We provide documentation to the customer and their certification testers for review.

  • The acquiring party then provides a project scope, along with test cases, based on your configurations. This will result in your TSE. IDTECH does not know what your configurations are.

  • The end product would be some.TPP file that can be loaded into your BTT (brand test tool), which will cover your terminal configurations and settings. Again, IDTECH does not know what your configurations are.

  • At this point, you would run some test cases that are for EMV L3. If there are test case issues, you would share your .TPP file with IDTECH support via a support ticket, and we can help you from there.

Once you have your test cases, we can then begin assisting you with certification support. Our team is trained on how to handle EMV L3 test cases very well, but we have to defer to your certifying part as to which test cases need to be tested, and with what configuration.
