Does ID Tech support Xamarin?
Beginning February 22, 2024, ID Tech no longer supports Xamarin. Microsoft declared the End of Life for Xamarin as May 1, 2024. ID Tech is unable to support development with a technology that does not have ongoing support for updates and security patches.Is there another option?
Yes! Microsoft has advised all their Xamarin developers to migrate to MAUI. ID Tech will continue to support MAUI as it aligns with Microsoft’s support schedule and commitments to mobile platform development with Visual Studio.Which SDK should mobile and desktop implementations use?
Our MAUI SDK uses library IDTech.Maui.Comm, which contains the same IDTechSDK_STD library as our desktop implementation. IDTech.Maui.Comm is the communication bridge to make the connection to the devices, and IDTechSDK_STD is the command API. This means every API available to you in Windows is available to use on iOS/Android platform.
