Wiki: Apples's MFi Program

Apple licenses the use of it's connectors to manufactures. So, If you are an iOS developer, and you have an application that will make use of an ID TECH reader, your application may need to be added to that reader's Product Plan before Apple will approve your application to be listed in the App Store.

What ID TECH readers will require that the application has been added to the device's Product Plan? What products are not and why? Any products that use Apple's proprietary Lightning connector fall into the MFI bucket. This means iMag, iMag Pro, and iMag Pro II. Also, any devices that will communicate via Bluetooth such as, the BTMag and the VP3300BT. Mobile devices that use the audio Jack do NOT need to be added to a Product Plan in order to be published in the app store.

To have your product added one of our active Product Plans, simple let us know a few key pieces of information and we will app you app to a Product Plan.

Send us an email (support@idtechproducts.com) with all the information.  And we will inform Apple that we would like your application added to our product plan. After a day or 2 (or three), Apple will add it to our Product Plan.
