Proving NFC Peer-to-Peer messaging on a KioskIII (ISO 18092)

For this demonstration you will need:

  • Windows PC
  • KioskIII (comprising controller, antenna, and cabling)
  • Mobile (Cell) Phone with NFC connectivity enabled

Firstly, install the ID TECH NFC P2P Demo application, available from this page. There are two applications contained therein, one for your Windows PC and the other for your phone.  If you would prefer not to install an APK manually, you can also download the Legic NFC P2P Example application from the Google Play store, at this link.

Sending A Message To The KioskIII

Step 1

With the KioskIII powered on and connected to your PC, run the NFC P2 Demo application on your PC.

Step 2

In the 'Message To Send' box you may change the content of the message that will be transferred. I used a string of numbers to more easily identify the ASCII code on the other side.

Step 3

Open the relevant application on your phone. This example uses the Legic tool. Select the 'RECEIVE NDEF' tab on the right of the screen header.

Step 4

Press 'Send Message' on the PC tool.

Step 5

Place the mobile on the KioskIII antenna. Finding the optimum position may take some investigation as phones have different antenna locations internally. The phone will receive the incoming message.

Step 6

The PC tool will acknowledge successful transmission of the message.

Step 5

Bring the devices together, placing the phone on the KioskIII antenna in the optimum position. The phone will detect the KioskIII and request the user to confirm transfer of the message. Touch the screen to continue.

Step 6

The message will be received at the PC tool, and displayed in the 'Messages Received' window.
