Overview


Some SREDKey 2 devices require a bootloader update to upgrade firmware to v1.01.008.0392. Follow the steps below to perform the update process.


Before You Begin

  1. Before starting the update process, go to the SREDKey 2 Product Page.
  2. Expand the Firmware Downloads section.
  3. Download the firmware update for your device and extract it to your computer.
    1. You determine if your SREDKey 2 is a Demo or Production unit by checking the serial number on the back of the device; Demo units have a T in the serial number; Production units have an S:

Updating the Bootloader to v1.15

  1. Open the directory where you extracted the Firmware update package: SREDKEY2 ZIP file.
  2. Open the Bootloader Tool directory.
  3. Run IDTechBootload.EXE.
  4. On the interface selection dialog, select USB HID / USB KB / RS232 and select OK.
  5. Next, select the Reload Firmware File Path button at the top of the app.
  6. Change the file path to the top level of the Firmware Update Package; SREDKEY2 directory in the update files you extracted earlier and click OK.
  7. Select SREDKey2_bootloader_b_V1.15.fm and select Update.
  8. Select Continue on the confirmation dialog.

The Bootloader update process may take several minutes. When complete, the Bootloader app will say Device Ready.

Updating Firmware to v1.01.008.0392

After updating the Bootloader to v1.15, follow the steps below to update the firmware:

  1. Select the Reload Firmware File Path button.
  2. Select the FirmwareApp directory.
  3. Select the SREDKey2_V1.01.008.0392 firmware file; your .FM file will have an S (for Production units) or a T (for Demo units) depending on the file you downloaded earlier. Select Update.
  4. Select Continue on the confirmation dialog.

The firmware update will take several minutes to complete. When complete, the Bootloader app will say Device Ready.
