Express Transit is an enhanced contactless protocol designed by Apple to allow quicker and simpler payment for transportation fares using Apple Pay.

In Mass Transit environments any delay at the point of payment for a fare, or of validation of a pre-paid ticket, can cause frustration and crowding especially in busy locations.  Rather than selecting the payment method from your Apple iPhone or Apple Watch as you approach or are at the payment device, Express Transit allows the traveller to nominate an open-loop payment card or pre-paid ticket to be used in advance.  The phone or watch can then be presented to the reader without the need to "wake" or unlock the device.  Removing the need for the passenger to interact with their phone or watch speeds up the flow of foot traffic through the entry barriers or past the validation device.

More information on Express Transit, including how to enable this in your Apple Wallet, please see the following link on the Apple website: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT209495

Express Transit is provided through the support of ECP 2.0, a feature implemented in the Kiosk IV and later Kiosk III models.  Speak to your ID TECH Regional Sales Manager for more details.
