Problem:

I was doing some tests with a RS232 interface SPT3-885-33-1NN0N-0C and sent the 5.4.6. Set Operation Mode [53 11] command with bit 0 set to 1, so the reader is in Plug&Play mode.

Now, I can not communicate with the Reader at 38400 bauds, when it is powered on, the LED stuck in amber and won't respond to any command. How can I restore the previous settings and go back to the non Plug&Play mode?

Answer:

There is a hardware difference between our RS232-PCSC interface reader(SPT3-86x series) and our standard RS232 interface reader(SPT3-88x series) even though they both work in RS232 serial communication interface.  The RS232-PCSC interface reader has an 8 pin Molex connector on its PCA which takes an 8 pin serial interface cable.  When it powers up, the Plug-and-Play Device ID String has to be sent to the host PC at 1200, 7, 1, M first through the 8th pin before it can communicate with the host in its default 38400 baud rate again.
